A superb, new complex of holiday gites that benefits from its own private bar, swimming pool and smaller toddlers' pool, children's play area and games room. The holiday gites are ideally located for transport links from the UK, based around half an hour from the port of St. Malo and the airport at Dinard.

Paris isn’t as large as London or New York, but you still might find yourself in need of public transportation for your holiday in Paris. For that you have the Paris Metro. The Metro came about in 1845 although the first line wasn’t completed until 1900. Since then it has made quite a name for itself as one of the most comprehensive subway systems in the world. Efficient as a means of public transportation, the Paris Metro has 211 km of tracks and 14 lines in total. Shuttling a whopping 3500 cars between the 380 stations across Paris, the Metro has a stop at almost every attraction, neighbourhood and park in the city. In fact, it is said that every building is within 500 metres of a station entrance.
Over time the Paris Metro has become a sightseeing attraction of its own. Some of the stations are amazing in architecture and design. For example, the station stop for the Louvre makes you feel like you have pulled right into the museum with marble walls and art replicas. The station stop for the Rodin Museum has a replica of The Thinker. Line 12 even has a spiral staircase leading to Art Nouveau entrance. Travelling the Metro can be an experience in its own right, but before you get on there are some travel tips that you may want to consider.
* Keep in mind that a single ticket is valid for your whole trip including connections so you need to keep your ticket on you at all times until you leave at the final destination. If you lose it or drop it, it can be an instant cash fine.
* Always guard yourself against pick-pockets who are very creative like the city itself. Although crime is low, just be careful particularly on the escalator up to the street. Men should keep their wallets in their front pocket and ladies should hold their purses securely with their hands.
To find your way around the Paris Metro is very easy. The signage is plentiful and simple to follow. Every station offers a large map to show you where you need to go and all the lines are colour coded for easy to read transits. There are numerous connections so you can get on and off at will and chances are you won’t get too lost, and with moving sidewalks between lines you won’t have to walk too far either. Some stations even have computerised route finders to help you find several routes to your destination.
The tickets for the Paris Metro can be bought at station counters each time or you could choose a book of tickets that will last you over the course of your holiday to Paris, saving you money at the same time. These books can be bought at many different retailers around the city. Lastly, you have the choice of buying an unlimited daily pass available in several denominations so that you can hop on and hop off whenever you choose from the morning till when the Paris Metro closes at night which is around 1:00 am.
You can find a lot more ideas for holidays in France on our site www.destination-france.co.uk

Just got this testimonial in from a delightful lady who has some of her rental properties listed on the main site with more to come soon, I'm just working on some new listings for her.
"I feel I must congratulate Steve on the way he runs this site. I have far and away more enquiries from this long-let site than any other I subscribe to.
Steve himself is patient and long-suffering when dealing with my additions and changes, managing my confusion with kindness and humour.
What I love is that the service offered is totally personal - refreshing in this time of conglomerates. I think conglomerates is the right word...
Thanks for everything,"
Angela Simmons.
La Petite Pommeraie
One of the Basse Pommeraie Lets in the Charente Maritime. (more soon)
I have to admit to it bringing a small lump to my throat, to get an email like that makes all the hard work, late nights and hissy fits when code breaks or doesn't look right in IE, totally worthwhile.

Ok before we start, this post isn't going to reel off a load of stats etc comparing spend against ad delivery against click thru rate but I have to say after a few weeks of testing Facebook Ads v Google AdWords, Google Adwords wins, and it wins absolutely!!!
Why?
With Google AdWords I may only get sixty or seventy delivered ads and a lower CTR (Click Through Rate) than Facebook but virtually every click converts to a goal/sale/adSense click.
With Facebook I get tens of thousands of delivered ads (supposedly targetted but I'm still not that sure they are too accurate to the target demographic...)and a pretty high CTR (which costs me cash but shows some people do see the ads)but and this is the big butt(sic) in this post, next to no conversions!
Ok ad for ad Facebook is a little cheaper per click but they are delivering a vast amount of ads and getting me a lot of clicks that simply don't convert!
Why?
Google is a platform where people go to find something they want, they're on the look for a specific thing while they're using Google. If that thing is a place to advertise French property for rent then they'll click my ads for listing property and I get a buck or two!
Also if they're on the lookout for a place to rent in France they'll click my ads (I must stop at this moment and point out that my organic ranking is now such that I don't need to use ppc adverts for holiday makers/rental property seekers) and either find a place they want to rent, and make contact with the owner, or they'll click one of my adSense ads and depart.
Either way it's income - from the adSense click or from booking to stay with one of my clients who is so delighted to be renting their property they happily pay to advertise the following year.... Again, I make a buck or two or at least cover my costs and I'm happy!
Facebook is a social network, people are going there to send a message to a friend or check out their friends photos and maybe throw a sheep at one or two other friends in the process. They are simply not there to search for products or even take a lot of notice of the advertising bunged over at the right hand side and out of the general flow of the page areas people are looking at.
So, there are clicks but, from the conversion rate, I think they're either accidental clicks or the 'clicker' thinks that Long Term Lets In France is a cool, new application.....
I use Facebook a lot and I mean a lot, it's a great way of keeping in touch with friends both current and, at one time, long lost... but that's all.
In my opinion Google has nothing to fear from Facebook and maybe Mr Zuckerberg and the Facebook empire should concentrate on what it's all about really:

The Languedoc-Roussillon is currently the most widely searched for region for holiday accommodation in France, house hunters and people requiring long term lets in France alike. 65% of visitors to our main French Rental Property site arrive, via the top search engines, having typed in searches for the Languedoc.
The Languedoc is bounded by the Auvergne, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the Mediterranean sea, Spain and the Midi-Pyrénées with Provence being the second most sought after holiday destination at the moment.
The Cévennes Mountains cover much of the old province, reaching their highest point in the north-east. The southern part is a low coastal plain along the Mediterranean Sea, where the Languedoc region enjoys a Mediterranean climate.
Throughout the original Roussillon area, Catalan is widely spoken and French, the official language, is spoken with a heavy Catalan accent.Regional cuisine relies heavily on olive oil and garlic and the warm winters and hot, dry summers produce vast quantities of inexpensive, superb quality (I much prefer it to any Bordeux...) wine. Next time you see a bottle of wine with Vin de Pays d'Oc on the label, you'll know it came from the Languedoc. In the UK you may be familiar with both the JP Chenet (Wonky bottle) and Roche Mazet both of which are good quality, good value wines.
Béziers is the centre for the wine trade in the Hérault department.
Welcome to the Languedoc.

With the ski season rapidly approaching, now is the time to begin looking for ski accommodation in the French Alps. Over the next few weeks we'll be introducing you to the Rhone Alpes and her departments and adding a list of ski chalets in the French Alps.
Chambery, located in the heart of the French Alps is the once capital of Savoie. It sits just near Lac du Bourget (Bourget Lake), looked upon by the Alps that surround it. Chambery is a city that can be both visited in the winter and summer. In the winter there are a number of ski resorts within easy driving distance. In the summer those same Alps that were skied, become hiking and backpacking trails and campgrounds.
The center of Chambery is the ‘old town’ it includes a Chateau, once the residence of the dukes of Savoie, a 15th century Cathedral and a fine arts museum. There is also a ‘Fontaine des Elephants’ (Elephants Fontaine) built in honour of the Comte de Boigne, who bestowed upon the city much wealth. A large portion of his personal wealth came from India, hence the Elephant Fontaine.
The center of Chambery offers not only tourist attractions but also many shops for buying your favourite French goods. If you are lucky it might be market day and you can buy some fresh local produce. Like so many cities in France Chambery is not only charming, it is also small enough to be walked comfortably. You will be able to see the center without getting sore feet! But if you do have that fear there is a tourist ‘train’ that will take you through the center and let you visit with as little walking as possible.
Chambery makes a good base for exploring the French Alps especially during the winter as it is within easy driving distance of such ski resort towns as Grenoble, Albertville, La Clusaz, Courchevel, Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix and Val d’Isère. In the summer other outdoor activities are possible including hiking and camping. As Chambery is close to three national parks, Parc national de la Vanoise, Parc Naturel Régional de Chartreuse and Parc Naturel Régional du Massif des Bauges. Other close natural attractions include, Lac du Bourget and Lac d’Aiguebelette. Two other popular summer lakes are Annecy Lake, within an hour’s drive and Lake Geneva, two hours’ drive.
Getting to Chambery is easy as it has a modern airport; the official name is Aéroport de Chambéry. The airport code is CMF. At the moment there are a number of ‘no thrills’ airlines like Flybe and Jet2.com have regular service to Chambery. These ‘no thrills’ airlines fly from selected major European destinations like Amsterdam and Bruxelles along with such UK destinations as Birmingham, Exeter, Manchester and Southampton.
Chambery can also be accessed by car from the A41 Autoroute Exit 13, Chambery Nord. Chambery is a little over an hours drive from Lyon and about a seven hour drive from Paris. Chambery also has train access. If you plan on coming from Paris the best thing to do is take the TGV (high speed train), it only takes about an hour and a half and then transfer to a regional train in Lyon that goes to Chambery.
Chambery can also be used as a base to visit other European cities and countries like Geneva, Switzerland and Turin in Italy. Each are within in a two hour drive.

If you own a property in Paris that you let on either a long term or short term basis I would really like to hear from you.
For a limited time I'm offering you the opportunity to list your property on Let's Rent Property In France totally free - no catches or hidden charges.
I need Parisian properties and apartments listed on our long term lets and holiday lets pages right now to satisfy the hundreds of site visitors we get each week who are looking for a property to rent in Paris. Some are holiday lets others are more long term including professional people who are finding it quicker to commute into London from Paris than from closer to home.
I would like to see your Parisian property listed on my site so I'm giving these listings away, it's that simple so please read on and let's see if we can help each other out.
Your free property listing allows site visitors to contact you directly with enquiries and not only does your property appear on its own page, it also appears in a summary page and on this blog too!
Your details are safe too, I promise not to share your contact details with any third parties etc, I hate spam as much as you (the junk mail type not the tinned meat... actually I hate that too...) and should any enquiries come through to me (they sometimes do for unknown reasons) I will forward you their details and enquiry rather than send them your details.
How To Submit Your FREE Listing
You can submit your details for your listing (did I mention it was free?) in two ways:

How to buy your property in Brittany
by Charles MarriageEver since we started letting our holiday cottages in Brittany we have had a steady stream of visitors looking for property for sale in Brittany, in the Vilaine/Redon/La Roche Bernard area, but also further afield.
Prices in this area have been doing exceptionally well in last few years with investments often doubling in value from 2002 to 2007, and the market is now cooling down. Prices are not cheap any more and the supply of properties for renovation is reduced year by year. However there has been a lot of building, and there is an increasing amount of old vacant property in the bourgs (town/village centres).
This is a popular area for retired people and holiday-makers, and there is a lot of demand from people who commute to Rennes, Nantes and Vannes.
Perhaps the best opportunities in this area lie inland, in places like Carentoir, Malansac, Questembert, etc..
How to start looking for property in Brittany.
Most of our property hunting visitors cruise around, visiting the Brittany estate agents in areas that they like the look of, but most are unaware that notaires (solicitors) have a constant flow of properties which inheritors are disposing of so they usually have something of interest, and they circulate (from their offices) newspapers consisting only of property advertisements.
There used to be one or two English people who were in business here as estate agents to promote French property to English people, but they seem less prominent these days, and anyway the Brittany Estate agents speak good English.
Before you visit you can find Brittany Estate agents on Google, which lists 2700 entries for Breton Immobilier (estate agent). Agency rates can be higher than in England and pays to look around..
Visits to properties are usually accompanied, and their whereabouts are closely guarded secrets " the agents are nervous of private deals that circumvent them.
How to buy your Brittany property
When you find a property you like you will be asked to sign a “compromis de vente†(selling agreement) and unless the property conceals any “vices caches†(hidden problems) you are then legally obliged to complete the sale. However the agreement can be made conditional, for example on getting planning permission, and the like.
Conveyancing is charged on a statutory scale and the only way of escaping the fees is to (illegally) hide part of the value of the transaction. You could well be asked as we were once, whether any part of the deal had been done desous table (under the table).
Completion is known as the 'Acte'. This is usually a very French occasion. Buyers and sellers meet at the offices of the selling notaire, and the whole conveyance is read out, with the notaire checking at each stage that everything has been understood. At one conveyance we went to, the selling notaire half-whispered to our own notaire "Will these people know what's going on ?".
Living in Brittany with your new property.
Although our property hunting visitors have demonstrated very clearly over the years that no experience is necessary for living in France those who come to make a new career find life extremely difficult, since France has policies which deter new business start-ups, and employers are not generally interested in having British employees. Be warned !
Of the rest all that we know have stayed.
France is a very nice place to be and of all the countries in Europe is closest in language and landscape to the UK.
Mostly we all do learn to speak French eventually, but often in the case of married couples one will learn French and the other not.
In Brittany itself, English people are very well treated, better liked than Parisians or Germans and mainly exasperate the locals if they never learn French.
Bon chance !

Some Reasons To Visit The Dordogne.
By Marcus Smith. There are many reasons to visit and explore the Dordogne department in the Aquitaine region of France. Some of the key highlights include:
Lascaux caves.
The prehistoric paintings at Lascaux are probably the most renowned cave paintings in the world. The cave paintings you can now visit are a copy of the prehistoric paintings contained in the original Lascaux caves, 200 metres away, because human breath was damaging the originals. The replica paintings have been made using the same materials and techniques as were used for the original paintings, 19,000 years ago.
The Lascaux cave paintings are mostly pictures of large animals, including the 'auroch' - a now extinct early relative of the ox (it is thought that the Auroch was worshiped as a sacred beast in prehistoric times). Truly a remarkable experience and you quickly forget that you are looking at modern day replicas.
Sarlat.
Sarlat is a beautiful medieval town a few kilometres north of the River Dordogne. The old town, dating from both medieval and renaissance times is a pleasure to visit, especially during the spring and autumn, or early in the morning. If you can catch the early morning sunshine on the yellow sandstone buildings, so much the better.
Wander through the back streets around the cathedral to get a feel for how the town must have been 500 years ago.
Les Eyzies.
Les Eyzies is at the centre of a very beautiful area, in the Vezere Valley, with numerous cliff and rock formations, surrounded by rivers, hills and tranquil countryside. At the centre of prehistoric life in Europe, there are several interesting cave systems and prehistoric relics to visit around Les Eyzies.
Les Eyzies is also home to the National Prehistory Museum which houses one of the world’s most complete collections of prehistoric artefacts. Just a couple of hundred metres from the National Prehistory museum is Abri Pataud, a cro-magnon shelter dating back almost 40,000 years. The cave-lined Vézère valley has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO
Chateaux.
In the Dordogne region there are reputed to be 1001 chateaux. Many of the most magnificent are open to the public. Start perhaps with the Chateau de Commarque, Chateau de Castelnaud, or (my personal favourite) Chateau de Beynac, set high above the Dordogne river and the attractive village of Beynac.
Each has its own impressive tale to tell of centuries of conflict, often between the French and the English during the Hundred Years War, and each has its own magnificent views over the surrounding countryside.
Most beautiful villages.
There are several villages in the Dordogne region that have received the prestigious ‘Most Beautiful Villages of France’ award. These include Monpazier, a perfectly preserved medieval bastide town to the south of the region; La Roque-Gageac, a picture postcard village spread out along the Dordogne river, with troglodyte dwellings and a tropical garden spreading up the cliff behind; and Beynac, mentioned above for its castle but equally attractive as a village in its own right. Several other villages in the immediate vicinity also have the award.
The Dordogne region provides a glimpse into a world virtually unchanged as the centuries have unfolded and a visit is always an unforgettable experience.
