Formerly a French province, Normandy, is now divided into two regions bordering the English Channel: Upper-Normandy and Lower-Normandy and is reminiscent of a great landscape painting, with cattle grazing in the fields and traditional rustic wood-framed houses that contrast the nearby modern buildings.
Not far from the Seine, an hours drive from Paris, is Giverny where Monet painted his water lilies.
